RYA Powerboat Level 1
A practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats. Students
completing this course are capable of operating a powerboat under the
supervision of an experienced boathandler.
Course syllabus includes:
Introduction to the theory of powerboating
Launch and recovery
Preparation of boat
Boat handling
Picking up and securing to a mooring buoy
Leaving and coming alongside
Being towed
RYA Powerboat Level 2
Provides the essential basics for all powerboat handling. Fulfils the requirements for the
International Certificate of Competence which is recognised in 22 countries throughout Europe.

Engines and drives
Ancillary and safety equipment
Use of chart and compass
Tides and tidal streams
Launch and recovery
Boat handling under way
Securing to a buoy

Coming alongside

RYA Powerboat Intermediate
Provides the skills required to complete a short coastal passage by day
using both traditional and electronic navigational techniques.

RYA Powerboat Advanced
A challenging course aimed at the more experienced boat handler. Knowledge and skills on all aspects of practical boat handling are developed.
